Microsoft
's latest monthly patch set tackles critical vulnerabilities that attackers can exploit in the wild to target PC users. Microsoft released seven security bulletins that addressed 11 vulnerabilities on its Dec. 11 Patch Tuesday. Of those, three bulletins containing seven client-side vulnerabilities are rated as critical and affect nearly all major Microsoft operating systems: 2000, XP, 2003 and Vista.

Microsoft says Vista SP1 won’t change much, urges not to hold off on upgrade

Microsoft is at it again, trying to convince businesses and some users alike that Vista SP1 does not have that many changes and it is not worth holding off your upgrade.
With its latest claims the company is specifically targeting businesses who have delayed migrating to Vista and are sitting around with good old relibable Windows XP either waiting for the final version of SP1 or just skipping Vista entirely and waiting for Windows 7.

Well, I did it. Yep! This long-time Windows user made the move to "The Dark Side of the Force" yesterday when I cracked open the relatively small box which arrived at my condo. It was packed with my new baby — weighing in at 5.4 pounds — my new MacBook Pro.

Final Beta for Windows Vista SP1 Due Next Week

make the final release candidate for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 available to the public
some time next week. Although no specific date has been set, next Tuesday is this month’s Patch Tuesday, with a new round of official patches and updates, which seems like a logical release date for Vista SP 1.
The final beta for Vista SP1 is already available to Microsoft Connect members as well as MSDN and TechNet subscribers.
