Review: Shadowrun on the Xbox 360 and a Windows Vista PC

Amid bad news about console hardware quality for Microsoft, the good thing for the company is that its games aren’t half bad. I beg to differ with Nooch about whether Microsoft’s games are worth the pain of the occasional breakdown. Here’s a case in point.  
I’m pleased to report that my first impressions of Shadowrun were wrong. Mitch Gitelman, head of the FASA game studio at Microsoft, showed me this M-rated game a while back. His team had been working on it for three years, but I was underwhelmed. I thought it was a dud that had been superceded by other titles in its long gestation. But after playing it on both the PC and the Xbox 360 Elite, I find it to be a breath of fresh air in the overcrowded first-person shooter genre.
