Open Text’s Hummingbird Connectivity(TM) Suite Certified for Windows Vista, Open Text Continues Leadership in Adopting Latest Microsoft Technologies Exceed First PC X Server to Receive Certification; Demonstrates Commitment to Providing Enhanced Connectivity Solutions for Modern Computing Environments CHICAGO, IL, May 21 /CNW/ - Open Text(TM) Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX:
OTC), the largest independent provider of enterprise content management (ECM)
software and solutions, today announced that its Hummingbird Connectivity
division has received certification for Windows Vista from Microsoft for its
family of products. The announcement demonstrates Open Text’s continued
leadership as an early adopter of the latest Microsoft technologies. Hummingbird Connectivity connects people to applications and data by
providing a feature-rich and robust suite of technologies that helps
organizations meet the challenges of integrating heterogeneous legacy
infrastructures, such as UNIX(R) or Mainframe, with Windows desktops, while
providing cost effectiveness. The company worked together with Microsoft to
obtain the Certified for Windows Vista logo for Hummingbird Connectivity 2008,
its next product release aimed for early summer 2007. “Microsoft is pleased that Open Text’s Hummingbird Connectivity Division
has earned the Certified for Windows Vista software logo for its Hummingbird
Connectivity applications,” said Dave Wascha, director Windows Client partner
marketing at Microsoft Corp. “By certifying its applications, Hummingbird
Connectivity is letting its customers know that its products have met explicit
standards of reliability and quality, and have been tested and proven to
deliver a superior experience with a PC running Windows Vista.” Hummingbird Connectivity is an integral member of the Windows Vista Early
Adopter Program. The Hummingbird Connectivity 2008 products that have received
the Certified for Windows Vista logo include: Exceed(R), Exceed
PowerSuite(TM), HostExplorer(R), NFS Maestro Solo(TM), NFS Maestro Client(TM),
NFS Maestro Server(TM) Enterprise Edition, Connectivity Secure Shell(TM), and
Connectivity SecureTerm(R). These products were extensively tested by
VeriTest, Microsoft’s official certification laboratory, and have been
certified on both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms. “Tens of thousands of customers worldwide utilize our products in
mission-critical environments and expect us to be an early adopter of
Microsoft technologies,” said Eugene Cherny, General Manager of Open Text’s
Hummingbird Connectivity division. “We are pleased to be the first PC X Server
on the market to be certified for Windows Vista with the Certified for Windows
Vista logo. Our products continue to be on the forefront of new technologies
to ensure we provide our customers with a competitive edge of a complete and
cost-effective Connectivity suite.” Open Text and Microsoft Relationship The announcement by Hummingbird Connectivity adds to a string of recent
successes for Open Text in its strategic relationship with Microsoft and its
strategy of embracing the latest Microsoft technologies. In February, Open
Text introduced the first U.S. Department of Defense-Certified records
management solution for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007; and in April,
Open Text’s Artesia Digital Media Group demonstrated integration with
Microsoft Interactive Media Manager at the National Association of
